At Awo’s 30th remembrance: Archbishop tackles politicians over defection

The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos, Most Rev. Olusina Fape, Tuesday flayed Nigerian politicians over the wave of defection and cross-carpeting in the country.

Fape, who decried the lack of ideological configuration among the nation’s political class, declared that politicians will suffer the consequences of their wrongdoings if they failed to repent.

The cleric said this in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State while delivering his sermon at the 30th memorial service held in honour of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

The service, held at Our Saviour’s Anglican Church, Ikenne-Remo, was attended by eminent personalities from all walks of life.

Fape, who doubles as the Bishop of Remo Diocese, expressed sadness over the absence of ideology among the political class and traced the problems bedevilling the nation to it.

According to him, Nigerian politicians are mere chameleons and fair weather personalities
